Analysis of In the Footnotes of Library Angels: A Bibliography of Insurrectionary Imagination

Insurrectionary imagination is a network of socially engaged artists and activists whose work falls in between resistance and creativity, culture and politics, art and life. A playful game of duality. The division between Art and life was founded in the recent times. In certain cultures, art is embedded into life not as a separate entity but as a fundamental root of identity.

When thinking of an art activist, I always find myself separating bodies of art into two categories, violence and peace. I find myself having a hard time distinguishing between the gray area in between. Is there a gray area? Is the gray area considered the present time? The in between? Does the in between side with violence or peace?

I find myself wanting to understand if the theory of “is the glass half full” be implemented within this realm of art and activism.

Art and politics have certain commonalities, they had to be exciting, satisfying and effective.
